Dental technology can make your patience experience better.
It’s not unusual for patients to experience thoughts of anxiety when going to the dentist, especially if they had an unpleasant experience at another practice. With the dental technology we have at Harris Dental, however, going to the dentist is easier than ever. It’s another way we provide a better, more comfortable service to our patients.
Advancements in dental technology provide dentists with excellent tools to provide cutting-edge treatment in a comfortable, efficient, and highly effective environment. At Harris Dental, we incorporate various dental technologies that are all focused on making your experience better.
Same Day Crowns
Dental crowns are used to encompass a tooth that has been cracked, broken, or weakened in any way. In some cases, crowns are used to repair expired crowns or fillings, bond a dental bridge, or protect a tooth that has undergone a root canal treatment. In other cases, crowns are used to complete a dental implant restoration for a single tooth. Whatever the reason is that you might need a crown, you may have the perception that getting a crown is a lengthy process, requiring multiple visits to the dentist’s office.
Thankfully, with modern dental technology, those multiple trips for a crown are a thing of the past. With same day crowns, we use computer-aided design and manufacturing processes to safely and painlessly create digital images of your mouth and teeth. Using these advanced images, dental technology called CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) can mill your crown from a solid ceramic block. Dr. Harris then completes your crown by adding the finishing touches and securely bonding your crown in place in your mouth. The same day crown process takes as little as two hours.
Digital X-Rays and Photographs
When it comes to modern dental technology, gone too are the old X-rays and dental photographs of the past. Digital X-rays are commonly used now, as they provide a better diagnostic tool so Dr. Harris can adequately assess the health of your teeth, mouth, and jawbones. Digital X-rays provide far better image quality than those old X-rays, plus they expose you to less radiation.
With digital X-rays and photographs, we can more quickly assess your situation and get you started on a proper dental treatment plan.
Digital Charts
Dr. Harris and his team use the latest in record-keeping technology by using digital charts, otherwise known as electronic health records (EHR). These digital charts are updated in real-time and centered on the patient, making information available to the dental team quickly so we can make more informed decisions about your treatment. Your digital chart will include your medical and dental history as well as past diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, and more.
With digital charts in place, patients can get in and out of our office quickly because everything we need to assess your situation and work with you on a treatment plan will be available right at our fingertips.
Mouth Guards and Night Guards
We often see patients who complain of chronic migraines and tension headaches. In many cases, these discomforts can be solved with dental technology called oral appliance therapy. These devices, often called night guards, are custom-made with high-quality plastic and are placed between your upper and lower teeth while you sleep to push your lower jaw forward so your back teeth do not touch and grind against one another.
We also often suggest mouth guards to patients who are active in physical sports. Whether you are young or wise, if you are active in hockey, basketball, gymnastics, football, or any other activity where tackling or potential trauma to the face could occur, a mouth guard can be very beneficial. Mouth guards can protect your mouth from damage.
Cable TV in Exam Rooms
We know our patients occasionally like to be distracted during their dental visits. For this reason, we offer them the convenience of cable television programming right in the exam room. Simply let us know your program of choice from our selection of channels, and you can stay entertained during your dental treatment. We have an assortment of programming available for children too, so rest assured that your little one will be comfortably distracted during their dental visit.
